DAYTON PREMIERE - JUNE 2012

"Insanely funny! BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON makes a bid for the smartest, sharpest new musical in years. Not since Sondheim's ASSASSINS has a Broadway musical so starkly and brutally examined the underside of the American Dream. South Park meets The Colbert Report!" -Time Out

BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON tells the story of America's first political maverick. A.J. kicked British butt, shafted the Indians and smacked down the Spaniards all in the name of these United States--who cares if he didn't have permission? An exhilarating and white-knuckled look at one of our nation's founding rock stars, BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON recreates and reinvents the life of "Old Hickory," from his humble beginnings on the Tennessee frontier to his days as our seventh Commander-in-Chief. ETC is pleased to present this premiere FRESH from Broadway and perfect for election year!

"A genuine sincerity and sweetness that pierces through skepticism...blessed with lovely indigenous music...a smart amalgam of country, church and blues." -Seattle Times.

Set in 1964 in the Deep South during the early days of the Civil Rights Movement, VIOLET follows the growth and enlightenment of a bitter young woman accidentally scarred by her father. In hopes that a TV evangelist can cure her, she embarks on a journey by bus from her sleepy North Carolina town to Oklahoma. Along the way, she meets a young black soldier who teaches her about beauty, love, courage and what it means to be an outsider. One of the most acclaimed off-Broadway shows of the ’90s, VIOLET astounded critics and audiences with its powerful story, its energetic, toe-tapping Gospel, Rock, Country, and Rhythm and Blues score by Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Caroline or Change, and Shrek) and its well-crafted book and lyrics by Brian Crawley.
